Description
After 16 years, the Penguins have finally missed the playoffs once, which lead to a positive outcome with Hextall and Brian Burke being fired. I do see them trying to be playoff contenders as long as Sidney Crosby is around though.

If Jan Rutta is still on this team come next season, I am out.

This team is so mediocre. The core old. I thought they made big mistakes last off season and at the deadline.

The decided to get older by trading guys like Marino and adding guys like Petry and Granlund.

I think they should try to inject as much youth into their line up as possible. If they can move off as many of their older guys as possible, I think it would benefit them.

Re-build might be necessary here to be honest. Do they talk with Malkin and Crosby to see if they move them to another team? I think the conversation needs to be had.

Every day that goes on in this off-season the more and more I believe this team is COOKED. I’m honestly ready for a rebuild atp

Team is stuck trying to win while they have Crosby Malkin and Letang.
Labanc retained isn’t a bad idea to try and add a younger vet who is primed for a change of scenery and has the skill to break out, but with such a bad prospect group trading picks should be avoided.
Kerfoot costs more, wonder if adding guy(s) like Bertuzzi, Kane or Pacioretiy might be a better idea than Labanc and Kerfoot.
To me best idea is keep as many picks as possible and build up the prospects while adding FA options with solid upside.
If played smart, by the time those stars are done the team will have built up a strong enough prospect pool that the inevitable rebuild isn’t a 5+ year ordeal.
