I understand whats being posted here, but this is a terrible move for the rangers.

Both Kakko and Laf individually are better than Schmaltz, who is also paid more than both combined.
The first's are not enough to move both, especially since neither one would be a roster player in the next year or so, causing major holes in the lineup.
Schneider isn't quite untouchable, but he's close. The rangers don't have a prospect who could replace him, and considering he's on a rookie deal, they wouldn't be able to afford a replacement who's comparable.
