You want a 1st and 2nd for a cap dump and a waiver claim... yeah, I can tell you the Canes aren't in the business of helping the incompetence of other teams. Vrana may bounce back this year, but that uncertainty is just WAY too bad to bank on. Kapanen is at best maybe worth a 3rd with the retention

Vrana will definitely be a 30+ goal scorer and his cap would be 1.3 million. No team gets that at the TDL any year. Kap actually played well last year for the Blues. I would actually like both players on the roster under different circumstances.

Carolina was desperate for goals in the playoffs. A late first and a late 2nd for the combined production vs hardly any cap is pretty fair.

So, you're just going to ignore the fact that Svechnikov was out in the postseason with an ACL, a once in a career injury for most players? Stop it. Kapanen had 36 points last year. Vrana barely played. You think that gets a 1st and 2nd is PURE delusion. Carolina don't particularly need any retention anyway. No current LTIR cases, 30 million in cap space, and enough room to go down other roads for MUCH better players. This is a really awful idea for the Canes

I think his point was Kap had 14 points in roughly 25 games for the Blues. Essentially double his pace with PIT. And Vrana played 20 games scoring 10 goals. Both players played much better after coming over.

While I disagree with most of the trades, it won’t shock me if they get a first for Vrana at the deadline. He’s gonna fit any cap situation and bring goal scoring. Lastly, Svech could be out for significant chunk of next year (maybe not until the playoffs) you’re gonna need some goal scoring next year.
