Description
This was from an actual article in The Hockey Writers. I felt the need to post it because it was so bad, it makes all the ACGMs here look like geniuses

https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-coyotes-shed-huberdeau-contract/

Essentially, chuck is proposing the following trade, and ignoring a bunch of issues:

To ARI:
Huberdeau
Kylington
Mathew Phillips (Who is a UFA anyways and could just be signed by Arizona)
CGY 2023 16 OA 1st round pick

To CGY:
ARI 2023 12 OA 1st round pick
ARI 2023 3rd round pick

So effectively, Calgary gets to move up 4 whole spots in the draft and a 3rd round pick. Arizona on the other hand, uses LTIR contracts to reach the cap floor because the contracts are insured and they don't need to pay them. This keeps their actual salary low because, as you all know, the yote's have revenue issues. They get to pay a Huberdeau they cannot afford and get Kylington to move down 4 spots in the draft. So essentially both teams are worse off.

Apparently anyone can write for THW so submit your applications.

The one thing you’re doing right is having your title of the post not match what you actually did. That’s pretty common round here.

So the writer did absolutely zero research before posting this it seems. They mentioned Arizona's need to reach the cap floor yet Arizona only needs to add like 5-6M cap and still have 10 roster spots to fill

Exactly. I am assuming someone paid him to write it which is the most shocking part. Ironically, me posting this probably got him a couple dozen more clicks.
