Description
All credit to The Athletic for this article. In regards to Gibson it claims:

“The feeling is that the 29-year-old Gibson (No. 7 on the trade board) would be amenable to a move to a contender because the Ducks are not going to be a playoff team for years. His contract is reasonable — $6.4 million for four more years — especially if you believe he can still be a top-10 NHL goalie playing behind better defense.

Gibson has a 10-team no-trade list. The suspicion, though, is his preference would be one of three: Pittsburgh, Vegas or Los Angeles. He probably would be OK with New Jersey or Buffalo, as well, given their upward trajectories.”

Does a Gibson to Vegas deal make sense? I can’t imagine Hill is going to win a starting position, but Thompson and Lehner are still in the pipes

We would not consider moving him within division, especially to our two closest (geographically) rivals. Therefore Vegas and LA are out. Furthermore, Vegas already screwed us once with the Dadonov debacle.

All of the athletic article is speculation on the grounds that "Gibson likes to win, so we think he'd like a trade somewhere he can win" and has zero substance to it whatsoever. The DFO article claiming he asked for a trade is suspicious as hell, if the news actually broke that he asked for a trade, it would be headline news, not buried in an off-season trade targets article.

I was thinking the same. I feel the most probable spots would be New Jersey and Buffalo considering what they have to trade and where they stand franchise wise. Both are on the edge of contending and Gibson makes sense for either team.

Agree with both of you here, and can only add that Pittsburgh might be a destination only if the Pens are willing to give up #14. The problem with his hometown team is that other than Owen Pickering, they don't have an NHL-quality prospect.
