I feel like Hansen in year 2 is unecessary, as paying the 4th line 7mil is a little overkill. Id rather see players like Adam Brooks and Jeremy Bracco fill those roles on ELC's. Maybe even a Soshnikov.

I also don't think Gardiner will be needed after Maata. I think Zaitsev or Gardiner will have to go as the leafs need to make room for Liljegren and/or Dermott in the top 4, with Carrick and Nielsen on as the depth.

It's the dream of all teams to pay their stars and have enough good young players fill in on ELCs. Leafs are hoping the lineup looks to similar to this....maybe Borgman on defence and Gunnerstrom on LW. Don't think we ever see Bracco as a fourth liner winger. Probably a second liner, if he makes the NHL at all.

I see him starting by filling a similar role to Kapanen and Soshnikov this year, before he makes the jump to a different line.

Fair enough on both points. Hansen for year two was just as filler as I'm not certain Bracco will be ready by then. If he is I'm all for him earning a spot there. I don't really care about the money if we have the room honestly.

Second point is also valid and I think it is something that you discover on the fly. At year 3 you can make the choice to let go of Gardiner, move Liljegren up with Rielly and Maatta with Zaitsev. That's fine with me.

As Cameron said I believe this is how he will be eased into the NHL game ala Kapanen. The other things you mentioned are minor things that surely could come true. I appreciate the response.
