Trading for a goalie other than Askarov makes no sense. Habs aren't ready to compete in the Atlantic for another few seasons. Trading the apparent assets that Flyers fans think Hart is worth isn't an option. There isn't a market for goalie potential outside a blue chip prospect like an Askarov Cossa or Wallstedt.(Examples)

Habs need to give Montembeault the crease next year. With the young dmen a step further in development, and less injuries. He will have a better platform to display if he can handle the lions share. Allen as a back up ready to carry the load at .500 if it comes to it. Which is fine as again the Canadiens aren't expecting to challenge for a wildcard. Drafting 8th to 12th next season should be expected. Progress but not selling assets to be a mid contender again. Wait out this process.

Put Primeau on notice. Put up or shut up. Carry Laval to the Calder Cup final 4, or it's considered a failed season. Time to move on.

With picks 31st and 37th, draft 2 of Hrabal, Gajan, Augustine or Bjarnason. This is the perfect draft to grab two very good goalie prospects hidden in a very deep forward class. Habs currently have a plethora of young forwards with potential. The defense is heading the right direction. No need to reach before they see how Mailloux does at the next level.
