Only way NYR can afford Miller is if BOTH Goodrow AND Trocheck are gone.

Drury requested a trade and is GM Drury's nephew. Trocheck has history in Carolina-- would he waive, would Carolina even want him back? No idea.

It's not bad overall. The Miller contract could hurt long term but he is a point per game player. With the cap set to increase dramatically, there would be hope to be able to resign Kakko/Schneider/Drury/Lindgren next year. Lindgren is likely the odd man out (which is nuts in my mind, but his style likely doesn't bode well for longevity). NYR's other contracts are up in 3 years goes along with Trouba/Panarin so there should be enough space for them.

Goodrow might block it. That Miller contract is a mine waiting to explode. I give it two years until he is a complete liability.

As much as I like the idea of getting rid of Trocheck's contract (which I doubt Carolina would ever consider on its own, let alone include Drury in as part of a return), I am not a huge fan of JT Miller's contract and, even if I were, I cant see Vancouver agreeing to basically a back-end first that is tied with Goodrow's contract and a throw-in prospect who isnt looking like he is going to light the league on fire as a worthwhile return for Miller

Tro has is a better center than JT Miller. You’re losing more of what you need (2 way play) to gain something you already have (scoring)

I absolutely love Trocheck, but i just don't see the canes taking that contract. Not saying its bad now, but idk how it's going to age seeing that hes signed until his mid 30's. Just not a contract I see the canes taking. If they wanted to bring him back, they would've just re-signed him.
