Since Carter's contract expires after this year and Petry's the following, it should give the Sabres an additional $9,000,000 cap to sign Quinn and Peterka.
When Carter leaves Savoie and Kulich step up.
It would not surprise me to see Johnson in the line up in January.
It would certainly be nice to get needed players and draft picks.

    How do you figure that?
Petry plays over 22 minutes/gm, PK's over 2 min/gm has 190 hits, 111 blocked shots, only Rutta started in the DZ more often than he last year.
He is exactly what the Sabres need, a RHD Samuelson.
Carter can PK, he won 59.6% of his FO while only Cozens had more wins than he (567 to 559), has only a 29.6 OZ start, he would be ideal center for the fourth line.

Carter is washed I don’t care about his face off percentage. Petry in his late 30s making 6+ million dollars is also a bad idea.

Carter is certainly not what he was, but had more goals and pts than Krebs, Jost, Girgensons or Okposo.
    He brings playoff experience.
Can win critical face offs then race to the bench for younger legs.
Petry would be fine mentor for Power who actually had more hits, and blocked shots than Samuelsson.
He played as many minutes/gm as Samuelsson and with Jokiharju dropping to 3rd pairing, maybe Dahlin and Power do not need to play half of the game.
He does not have the same playoff experience as Carter, but Defensemen have long careers and only Dahlin and Power registered more pts than he did last year.
If these trades were made, Buffalo would add the much needed experience AND ADD a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th round picks.

    Let's agree to disagree.
