Description
At the goaltender position, Dubas tries to catch lightning in a bottle and goes with a tandem of Brossoit and Driedger instead of swinging big on Hellebuyck or Saros. Seattle looks to move up in the draft and dump Driedger's contract which makes Pittsburgh a good one stop all partner. Dreidger is a good candidate for a bounce back season. DeSmith starts in the AHL.

Dubas then uses the second round pick acquired from Seattle to trade for Backlund which solidifies the bottom-six. Silfverberg and Granlund are a swap of bad contracts. I could see Silfverberg finding a good defense first role next to Backlund. If Silfverberg falters, call up Puustinen. Also, depending on performances, Silfverberg and Engvall can always swap spots in the line up. Khaira and Maenalanen are solid depth pieces. Overall, the bottom-six should look a lot better as well as the PK.

Broberg, a young defenseman and a candidate to be traded out of Edmonton, is brought in to play with Petry. He is a player who probably should be getting top-four minutes now. Smith is re-signed to play next to Rutta and can help contribute on PP2.

Ducks pass. Granlund is the better player but 1 year of a bad contract > than 2 years.

Maybe a mid round pick to sweeten.

Personally I’m keeping Silfverberg unless someone wants to give value for him half retained. No reason to move him right now.
