Reinhart (who I like) better have a career year to be entitled to 6m a year. Playoff team? Lots of teams in the hunt. Seems almost any of the teams that get in will have to get lucky and avoid injuries to key guys.

This is a strong team I'll admit that but I don't see Alexander Nylander on the top line anytime soon. Scandella, Ristolainen and Carlson are good but I don't see many good defencemen past them though the offence looks amazing. What this comes down to is goaltending especially in this day and age you don't see too many teams with below average goaltending. The only way I see this team makes the playoffs is if Eichel and Ristolainen carry them.

Even not being a Sabres fan (Pens fan), I admit that your team is a very good one. However, I don't see Capitals let Carlson goes to FA, cause he's their best d-man by far. And I'm pretty sure he will worth more than that. Something between 7 and 8M/year. He's a two-way d-man who is great on both ends of the rink and helps the team a lot in PP too. The best PP of the league last season and one of the best every single season in last years.

I read many of your posts and I think you are very thoughtful and offer a lot of insight to the game, so I was wondering why Pomenville is playing 4th line LW?

Second, this is a stretch but IMO Moulson will be a better player than at least 1 of the following, Smith, Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste or Fasching, so do not see the need to bury him.

Third, I do not see the big advantage of trading Bogosian and signing Carlson (Unlikely he will sign for less than $6KK)?

Lastly, all 5 of those previously mentioned players will have to have really good years for the Sabres to make the playoffs. I guess your post just made me really sad, because I just do not see that as a playoff team, and that is the future. Thank you Murray for all of your missed trades (Spooner and Pearson), poor drafts (passing over Barbashev for Lemieux and not taking friend of Pegula family Jakob Chychrun instead of Nylander for examples), poor trades (a 4th liner and an AHL player for a top 4 d-man, McNabb, and 2 2nd and Pysyk for nothing for example) and over-payment for players you wanted (a 1st for Lehner when Talbot only cost a last 2nd and 3rd).
