Quoting: NYR1983
Today they aren’t nhl ready. So they don’t fit in it today. But all 3 are good young potentials for a team that’s rebuilding. So, you would need to sign other players as stopgaps for 2-3 years probably.
K, I think you're just unaware of the Jackets system heh. Niemela would come in at probably 6 on their RD depth chart behind Severson, Jiricek, Peeke, Boqvist, and Ceulemans. I suppose 5 in this deal since Peeke would be getting traded, but there's still 0 path to him getting NHL time. There's no having him swap to LD either since they've got Werenski, Mateychuk, and Svozil there as well as several more LD prospects.
Abruzzese would be somewhere around Trey Fix Wolansky on the depth chart behind Gaudreau, Laine, Jenner, Johnson, Marchenko, Sillinger, Fantilli, Brindley, Dumais, Voronkov, Chinakhov, Texier, Del Bel Belluz, Malatesta, Bemstrom, Foudy, Olivier, and maybe Whitelaw and Pinelli.
Neither of those guys would have anything resembling a path to an NHL career in Columbus.
The only appealing part is the 1st, which is probably fine if Peeke and Roslovic are deemed expendable, but I imagine trying to work them into a trade that returns a roster player now would be more interesting to Jarmo.
