They play different roles. Brodie is a RD that plays an almost identical style to Tanev. Calgary already has Tanev obviously They also have Weegar who is nearly as good as Tanev defensively but also much better offensively (similar to Devon Toews). Lastly they have Andersson. So Calgary's already chalk full of RD.

Zadorov is cheaper which is important because Calgary has very little cap space to work with and is more offensively gifted than Tanev (and Brodie), plus he has that much needed physical edge that Calgary lost a lot of this summer (with the departure of Lucic, Lewis, and Ritchie).
