Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Labanc, Kevin
  2. Sturm, Nico
Additional Details:
I have posted this trade before. I know some Canucks fans don't like it, I think it makes sense. Giving up a good prospect in Hoglander isn't ideal, but there is no space on the wings for him to further develop and Sturm could help fill the 3C role while adding good PK minutes and being another good faceoff option.
SJS
  1. Höglander, Nils [RFA Rights]
  2. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
SJ gets Myers who may speculate can return a 2nd at the deadline. They also get Hoglander a young winger with potential.
2.
VAN
  1. DeSmith, Casey
Additional Details:
Canucks could use an experienced backup. DeSmith is overpaid, but by retaining on and moving Pearson the cap situation is practically the same.
PIT
  1. Pearson, Tanner ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
PIT needs to move a goalie. Are they willing to take Pearson back who has struggled health wise recently and who may or may not be on LTIR for a significant portion of the year? Pearson was an effective third line player for Vancouver for multiple years before the hand injury. Cap hit is pretty much a wash.

PIT doesn't need to move a goalie at all given their injury issues at the position. Sullivan didn't really like Pearson the first time. Dubas actually takes his input on player decisions so doubt he would take him again.
