I thought they were trying to get rid of Brannstrom and some some targeting Garland.

More than anything I just wanna move Garland. And that's not even from a "he sucks" perspective it's more that we have lots of wingers and we need to reallocate some of the resources to center. He is a good middle 6 winger for a team that needs secondary scoring. He has good metrics across the board.

I would try trading him to Arizona.

See if they want him back.

They just signed Branny last week, if they were trying to move him they would have just traded his rights. Kleven is probably ready to play 3LD but would much prefer Branny and he can also slide into our Top 4 pretty seamlessly, if someone gets hurt.

Also, Ottawa is really up against the cap, can't afford Garland's contract unless you're retaining a bit

The only reason this could happen is because they'd be idiots. Brannstrom is quality and you don't move him until you can sell him at (near) peak value. Garland with his contract doesn't have a lot of value in the current cap crunch

With Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun and Kleven, Brannstrom future in Ottawa shouldn't be long term but this is not something they need and want to do
