Demelo’s numbers aren’t significantly better than ceci. When you factor in age and injury history I think ceci is the better bet. Or at least I wouldn’t want to add much on top of a 1 for 1 trade unless there’s decent salary retention on demelo.

Ceci isn’t great, but he’s for sure currently underrated imo

To me it is 2 parts for Oil benefit....Ceci maybe not much worse, but the Nurse - Ceci pair hasnt been great, so could be a way to mix it up. Demelo also UFA at year end, so if it doesn work, but $3.25M free off cap to see if way that it can be addressed next summer.

I am not a Ceci hater, but like the gamble on a few futures with that thought process

Yeah that’s a fair point. I think I’d be more into it if demelo was around 2mil so the trade gives us more cap room for a legit 4c

Not enough incentive there for Winnipeg to downgrade from DeMelo to Ceci and be stuck with Cecifor another year. Easy no for the Jets. Edmonton can pay a fair price if they want to dump Ceci's salary.

Nurse-Ceci has been fine. The past season Ceci played with a core muscle injury AND they got hammered with the hardest comp possible and they STILL produced a 50.39 xGF% and a 52.68 HDCF% despite a 42.95 Off Zone Start%.

They aren't spending picks to move Ceci in what would be a sideways move, especially considering the loss of term in the move.

I could see Edmonton targeting DeMelo if Ceci was injured, but I don't see them swapping the two players.
