nah. i think the purpose of signing cal is not only to have some additional insurance on d if the injury bug hits but also to make the utica comets as competitive as possible. seems like smith is gonna serve as the 7th D, to start at least.
tierney to me looks like the same exact type of signing.
they'll both be waived at the start of the season i reckon.

I doubt they trade Smith. If Foote beats him out for a roster spot, Smith probably clears pre-season waivers. So we should be able to send him to Utica.
