Petry declines, All Canadian teams other than Montreal are on his no trade list. He and his Wife wanted to be near their family full time. The same way with DeBrincat both want to raise their Children around their families.

Petry is just a potential suggestion. Not tied to the idea. More an indication of the type of player I would target. However, we've seen others waive from Winnipeg in the past to play for a contender (ie stastny, schmidt, etc). I think only Petry knows what he would want and we can always see when the opportunity arises. Its just good asset management from GMS to ask.

We can explore it and I would be opposed to it but I doubt it happens. Petry said he has dreamed about playing for the Wings and I think Yzerman wanted the extra retention because he has no intension of trading him, Without a Stanley Cup maybe he goes to a contender but if that does happen I think it will be next year so he doesn't have up root his family. That's just what I think and it could be entirely wrong.
