Description
Hate to break up 7-18-28, but G gives you some centre depth. Just enough cap space to trade Joseph mid-season when you're ready to activate Norris, and have a 22-man active roster. Protecting this cap space means if Pinto signs for more than $2.1, we'd have to drop to one healthy scratch (Kelly).

Or you just trade Kubalik, since he is UFA after the season and the Sens don't have cap space and a spot for him next season

2024-25 :

Tkachuk - Stutzle - UFA
Jarventie - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Giroux
Ostapchuk - Kastelic - Joseph
MacEwen

Sens will have 5+ M$ to fill a spot in the Top-9, Giroux could be on Stutzle's RW but that 3rd line would be money. I'm targeting having the strongest possible Top-9. It should be easy to attract a good player to play with Tkachuk-Stutzle. It could still be Tarasenko but I really doubt it would be Kubalik

So IMO, you trade Kubalik NOW to create enough cap space to sign Pinto and also try to recoup an asset instead of letting walk for nothing. Or trade Kubalik when Norris is healthy. Other teams will need him with their injuries too

I don't think Kubalik trade gets you enough cap space to have Norris active on roster and have anything more than the min 20 man active roster (not ideal), unless you sign Pinto at $1.6m which doesn't seem likely or fair value. The next few days will definitely be interesting for sure.

i think jarventie is pretty far of a sure thing to be playing top 6. they might need money to get another guy to play there too.

It’s assuming he continues on his current path of course but Batherson and him look pretty dangerous out there… Norris make players around him better so it’s also assuming he gets to health… since Norris-Batherson is already a deadly duo, Jarventie next year could be a pretty decent 3rd wheel on that line

If not, then it could be Greig, who is actually the best candidate. Great 2-way metrics anywhere he plays

Keep in mind that Giroux could still be used in that top-6, so the money would then go on a 3rd line RW
