Description

- i have yet to see any trade proposal that both fanbases agree on. I imagine that these trade offers are NOT what Edmonton wants... but...

- Edmonton is in WIN-NOW mode. And need every $ in cap space available and a goaltender solution right now. And help on defense.

- McDavid AND Draisaitl are in their absolute prime right now and the Cup window is open for 4-5 years. The draft picks are not as important as cap space at the moment.

- Harris is younger, cheaper and very mobile - but can drop down the cap situation by unloading Ceci AND Campbell.

- Allen is on contract for this season and the next and he is easier to trade than Campbell.

- Habs are NOT in win-now mode and can take on cap dumps for a little while.

- if I get both Edmonton fans AND Habs fans refusing this trade, that means I will have been close lol.

I think instead of picks in the 2nd trade you could add Bourgault and maybe a 3rd from the Habs to even it up but IMO, these two deals are good for both sides

Good point.
I remember a few years back when TB was in WIN-NOW mode, and they were just basically trading ALL their draft picks for now-pieces.
Just look at the upcoming draft picks for Arizona and Chicago; it's insane.

Teams in WIN-NOW mode need to go all-in using draft picks.
Teams in WIN-LATER mode need to part ways with pieces designed for right now...

Montreal needs to step up in my opinion.

I can't see EDM agreing to this since they are out of the playoffs picture as of now. a top 15 pick and a 28th overall have way different value...

These trades don't happen.

Actually, the most outrageous thing I've written is the *unprotected* part. That's vicious lol. And frankly, impossible. They would BOTH be top-10 protected.
