He's a short term option for sure, hoping that they can make a deal for Tanev later in the season. In the meantime, never a bad thing to have a goon. I also think Silovs is more ready than you might think and this is a great opportunity to cash in on a team that's down and out (instead of someone cashing in on us)

It would 100% Tolopilo coming up if we did that. I do that immediately if that is unprotected, but you know, it would be protected.

Also as pointed out that's not getting you a first. With the craziness of the situation maybe you could pry a second, Plus a 4th for the retention. Ideally, you would get a 3rd party to do that part so Canucks are at least getting cap space back. Funny enough I think he would be a great fit in Edmonton since he plays a desperation athletic style where he's really good at make a first save which would really help with all the horrible chances they bleed off the rush.

Also, it's too late IMO for Edmonton they can't make the playoffs now, they would need to play at 117 for the rest of the Season to make the playoffs (94 points).
