Description

Explanation:

Habs acquire a draft pick for the rebuild and a goalie able to help their AHL in their development. It fixes the goaltending problem in MTL, and if Primeau fails in his NHL stint, Pickard is an able short term solution.

EDM gets a cheap and good goalie for a short term fix. It buys them time hoping to fix the goalie situation next season if the cap goes up.

Montreal isn't trading Montembeault, they're working on an extension with him. If we're trading a goalie, it's Allen.

Teams know Edmonton is in a tough spot and want to take advantage of that. Basically means a 1st rounder for a starting goalie and I think that's MTLs asking price for them to want Monty.

I will say though that it's likely a 2025 1st, not 2024, their 2024 first shouldn't be available unless they're in a wildcard spot come TDL

I could see this happening, I don't think management see Monty as the goalie of the future (drafted 3? goalies last draft). That and the fact that goalies usually go for cheap a 2nd is fair
