Description
This ACGM operates under the assumption that Treliving won't meet Nylanders contract demands, so they ship out his signing rights to a team that will. I'm return for Nylanders rights, Toronto gets Strome to slot in on the 2nd line. No, he won't replace Nylanders production, but he's a versatile 2nd line playmaker who can put up 50-60 points a season and takes faceoffs. This would allow Toronto to further flush out depth scoring and defense in the off season.

Yes, Toronto fans will like to point out they have more cap space than Anaheim does next season, but they also have less players signed, and many of the holes to fill are not cheap ones unless they look towards internal options (two top 6 forwards, #1RD, #2LD, entire third pairing, 2/3 the bottom 6, and a goalie)

D core isn't as strong as I'd like it to be, maybe getting Ristolainen for 2nd pair is better than Peeke on 3rd. Availability subject to Phillys season.

    Additional Details:
Based off Seigenthaler's signing rights to Columbus for a 3rd, but instead of a pick, a player that can slot into the opening on the 2nd line.

Is Strome as good as Nylander? No, but he can play RW and C on the second line and is cost controlled for 3 more seasons at a reasonable cap hit.

Used in lieu of a pick as Toronto is still in win now mode.

Leafs decline to sell his signing rights and he wouldn’t waive for the ducks anyways

Firstly, it's for his signing rights, season would be over, whether he would waive or not is irrelevant, there's nothing to waive. Secondly, to assume that Anaheim is on his 10 team list, or that he wouldn't waive to come here is frankly horsesh*t, we're not some backwater metro in a flyover state, were 30 miles from Los Angeles and have great weather year round. Thirdly, Vegas was the first team to win a cup with one player making 8 figures, resigning Nylander puts the Leafs at 4 players making in excess of (or as near as makes no difference) $11 million. It's commiting to the same cycle again of not having enough cap space to flush out a roster. Leafs currently have 34.2 million in cap space next season, but a whopping 12 holes to fill. Sign Nylander to 10.5 and you're left with 23.7 million to acquire 11 players, including two top 4 D and a top 6LW, and a tandem goalie.

Toronto really needs to start asking if resigning Nylander is the smart thing to do, or if they should be looking at him as an own rental.
