Therein lies the problem. The Canes historically don’t pay that much for rentals, and he would be a rental to Carolina, with how many players need to be signed this offseason. Besides, the Canes wings are already loaded. We already have Svech, Jarvis, Necas, Turbo, and Bunting fighting for top 6 minutes, with the extra being sent to the 4th line. Rod isn’t likely to break up the 48-11-71 line with how good it is on a regular basis.

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of Guentzel. I think he gets extremely overrated, and I think he is more dependent on Crosby and Malkin than what people want to admit. I could be wrong, but that is just my opinion on him.

How good is he defensively, because the Canes might have some interest if he was at least average defensively, maybe not to the point where they pay that price, but maybe where their interest is at least piqued?
