No thanks to Matheson. It's pretty clear MP28 has the best shot in the NHL 😂. I like Bertuzzi and Kuzmenko and if they are hockey trades theres really only 2 players I see us moving to make that happen (Smith and Rakell). I think Smith would fit Vancouvers system well though, and Kuzmenko with ours. I like Monahan and Duclair, especially if we can get them 50% retained. I'm all for Bennett but itd probably take a lot for the Panthers to move him.

What are your thoughts on running Malkin-Eller-Rakell line with Eller as the center? I feel like moving Geno to wing is the best option at this point. Geno with a defensive center I think is perfect and will allow him to thrive in the last couple years of trying to contend. It would definitely require us to get a 3C at deadline, but I like that strategy. Also am not opposed to moving any of our wings in a hockey trade if I'm being honest. If we are trying to contend probably not Guentzel, but I wouldn't rule it out if there's a huge name like Marner or Zegras available. I feel like Dubas will either fully sell or make tons of moves at deadline to reshape the team. He really retooled Toronto at the deadline last year when they were in a way better position than us.

I think Eller has actually been really good for us. Hes very noticable every time hes on the ice and he brings a lot of speed. It allows Geno to sort of sit back. I hate it when he goes and tries to attack when everyone else is back. He just gets left behind back there because he isnt as fast anymore. I think it's a good idea and I wouldnt mind doing it. I wouldnt even be worried about Eller tbh, I think hed do fine in that position. I'm mixed with Jake. Obviously I dont think we will get a clear definition of what were doing with him until the deadline. If we are clearly out of a spot i think we have to move him, if we are in a playoff spot I think we keep him unless Marner or Zegras are available like you mentioned. Itll be intriguing to see what Dubas does as we get closer to the deadline.

What? Why would Carolina even consider a hockey trade for Bunting? They need scoring, he's on pace for 60 points. If you want him, it's going to be a heap of futures the Canes an use for an upgrade...

Agree 100% on Eller. I think he'd be a good 2C with Geno at wing, but 3C would definitely be a concern. I wonder how a Guentzel for Marner trade would work and what would have to be added. I really think we need to do something big like that if we want to contend. Maybe we can sneak into playoffs as currently constructed, but we will need a major move to become a contender. I don't think anyone should be completely off limits besides Crosby Malkin Letang and Peterson (I think D would collapse without him). I also think we need Poulin and Puljujuvari up in second half. They would for sure be upgrades for our bottom 6 at this point.
