Why would Colorado pay a first to save $1.5M in cap space?

laugh Those teams aren't giving up 1st round picks when those players can just be bought out. Toronto isn't giving up a 1st and Lilly to move Reaves laugh shakes head

To upgrade from Johansson to Granlund and gain $1.5M in cap space this year and next year.

Granlund has played 12 less games and has 11 more points than Johansen.
It's not a cap dump I'm assuming and there is retention included.

I don't really see it as an upgrade...more of a lateral move imo.
