Pretty sure Chychrun would be a downgrade on Ceci defensively. That's not the direction Edmonton wants to go.

It's modeled after the Ekholm trade. Ekholm is a far better defenseman, if Ottawa is expecting significantly more in return than Chychrun is destined to be a Senator until his contract is up.

Chych is a offensive Dman ekholm is not, Chych is 26, ekholm was 32 when he was traded, chych has far more value now then ekholm when he was traded

There’s no modeling after the Ekholm trade. The Sens aren’t trading a core player for futures
