Description
I wonder if the habs will be able to benefit from a contractual dispute between a young RFA and their cap strap team.

I have a few target:

___________________________

Our friend the Canes...

They'll have to resign Teräväinen, Jarvis, Necas and Drury as well as most of their Dcore (Skjei, Pesce, Deangelo, and Chatfield). I doubt Jarvis and Necas fall below the 7M$, which leaves a maximum of 17M$ to sign their Dcore or acquire a new one on the FA market.

Thus, I wonder if a deal could be made with the Canes regarding one of their yound studs (especially when we have a huge surplus of Dman.
___________________________

The Florida Panthers:

I expect them to try to resign Reinhart this summer and they have to resign almost their whole Dcore...
Again, I think a kid like Lundell could be a casualty of that process.

Habs have a surplus of young Dman who could contribute to FLA on the short and long term. Lundell could be an interesting target for the habs. And we have the asset to acquire him, namely one of Harris or Barron and a late first (WPG).

Any young Forward that you would part with in exchange for young Dman.

I'm sure Canes will probably find a way to resign everybody considering the low taxes (they make more with 7M$ in CAR than 9.5M$ in MTL).

Althought it doesn't hurt to look at MTL's catalog of yound Dmen.

I doubt that lundell will be difficult to sign for FLA on a bridge, but at this stage, this offer might be compelling.

Florida will not trade Lundell. What are the odds the late first becomes Lundell let alone a 200 game nhler? Not high so they keep lundell and loss possibly a dman but if I'm Florida I lose a dman to keep lundell easily

I doubt Dundon takes calls from Montreal. But let's pretend for a second he wants to be realistic and responsible. Carolina's defensive pipeline already includes the best defensive prospect in hockey in Alexander Nikishin and another one that's extremely promising in Scott Morrow. Aleksi Heimosalmi, Simon Forsmark, Domenick Fensore, and Antti Honka have each shown promise too. Combine that with the 7 defensemen the Canes already possess, and there's no real reason for the Canes to go sniffing around for more blueliners. I'd argue they'd be wanting things to go the other way, Morrow for someone like (this is an example, not an indication of value or a proposal) Slafkovsky. Not Slaf himself, and once again, that is just an example of the player they would be targeting, not an indication of value.

Be careful who you offersheet. Remember what happened with the Hurricanes? You guys gave Aho an offersheet, so they did the same to Kotkaniemi… except, they actually got the player.

Eh, still would be careful. Don’t want to make Florida screw you over like Carolina did.
