Description

Andrei was built like one and his son looks similar. Nik getting time at C for Torpedo, and also did so last year a bit. I think this is a master stroke by Coach Larionov to get his boi into a prominent role in COL.

This isn't some 21 yr old up & comer; Nik is a grizzled KHL veteran. Best player on Torpedo, top KHL player, son of a successful former NHLer, and coached by a Hall of Famer. All situations standout, he's got a very well rounded game. He's going to make a big impact in COL & it will be interesting to see where he slots into the lineup. Larionov has been talking him up as a "top six" guy for the Avs, so we'll see if maybe that spot is 2C.

Just FYI: He's nowhere near as tank-ish as his pops, who was both much heftier and a fair bit faster. And I'd say you're puffing up his CV a little bit, as well. We'll see if the way he plays (his compete and willingness to go into traffic are certainly in line with dad) translates on the cozier rink with the meaner opponents. He could be helpful, but I would not go betting the farm on it.
