Description
Sign a #2 LHD that's an upgrade over Gryz and Forbort? BOOM, not Hanafin, but Forsling, take advantage of the Panthers who have a lot of people to resign.

A true center who can play around the top 6? Forget overpriced Lindholm, sign Chandler Stephenson, the only FA center with a championship to his resume.

Resign Swayman? Obviously, I'm not insane.

Bring back a versatile winger who's ready to commit long term to the franchise that gave him all the chances and made him a well rounded, jack of all trades, master of none? May sound like Jake DeBrusk, but nah, Danton Heinen has been the real revelation of 2024.

Let a rookie become a mainstay at 4C who's shown versatility, drive, and a willingness to learn instead of a fringe NHLer who does nothing to make his linemates better? You've heard Beecher>Boqvist but let me tell you about Kuntar>Boqvist.

And hey, while we're at it, let's sign a veteran D that knows how to play DEFENSE to pair with Lohrei to help his development instead of throwing him to the wolves with McAvoy or pairing him with a liability like Shattenkirk. Enter: I don't know, Alex Carrier? Justin Schultz? Eric Johnson? No one really fits that bill for me but that's what I think they need.

Some good thoughts. Might be too much term for Stephenson but there are so few centres available in UFA...maybe that what he gets.
Too much term for Luby.

thoughts. lets see, uhhhh to be blunt, it's pretty bad. you've taken probably the two best centers on this team and put them at wing. You've signed a real solid player in Stephenson, but not a particularly offensively gifted one, tossed him at 1C, and overpaid him in the process. no good.

Then maybe you hit gold with Forsling and what he's been this year is just what he is. I wouldn't bet on it though. Seems like an overpay for a flavor of the week. Lyubushin at 2.5? Not a fan.

Keeping Heinen is absolutely the right call, but they should make room for debrusk, and it starts with ditching the stephenson deal. I agree, don't go after Lindholm either. I think sticking with what they have up the middle is the best bet.

You're also going to have to make room for two more roster players, as the bruins like to run with a 23 man roster.

Definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas but I'm just sick of bringing Lindholm and Hanafin in. I don't love Lyubushkin either, anyone who's a good 3rd pairing defensive first RD you can think of? And what's a better number for Stephenson? I think he plays well with good players, and thats all thats really available. No real studs. But Pastrnak is would be the best player he's ever played with, so it may work well.

Forsling is an option, but you could probably get him for cheaper and most importantly, you should. Same for Stephenson who has regressed this season and you're signing him until he's 37. Rather wait for a real top line guy. Lyubushkin was good in Arizona, but he's played like a 7th D recently.

Top6 is decent but you better hope Poitras and Lysell take a big step otherwise good luck with Marchand, Coyle and Stephenson regressing. The lack of elite/top line forwards will likely be an issue.

Kuntar has played well on the 4th line in the AHL. That's not comparable to the 4th line in the NHL. Boqvist has been a top line AHL player unlike him and Beecher; he's better than both. Beecher has also been a fringe NHLer, not sure what he's doing that makes him so much better than Boqvist or even Lauko and Steen.

i think a viable option here is to just leave the center position alone. Coyle and Zacha have done okay. You know what wouldn't be a bad option if the bruins can't execute some of the moves they want to? throwing good money at stephenson on a one year deal. Then the following two years, the following centers have potential to hit UFA:
McDavid
Draisaitl (I would think one of those guys likely switches teams)
Crosby
Eichel
Jenner
Stamkos (if you consider him a center, which I personally don't)
Duchene
