Description
Does this work? For Rangers, what is most needed? A top 6 C. As well as Hayes has been, is he handling top 6 well? I don’t think so given the fact that Miller has been playing 2C and Miller is a very good C, but also a very good Winger. If Miller remains at C, would HAVE to get a top 6 W. Turris can be 2C and if he does well, due to his age I can see him getting a similar deal to Hayes, 4/4.5-$5M max. Hayes would be more in the 4/4.5M max range. Hayes is younger so more chance to improve into a 2C but just doesn’t seem like it’ll happen soon enough.
Trades
NYR
  1. Turris, Kyle
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Turris is a rental so he has the option to sign elsewhere next season which is why I added a 3rd round pick.

Turris as a UFA is more likely to get 6m as a UFA. I think Ottawa would take the deal, if they think Hayes can put up 50 to 60 points a year.

Hayes peak is at 45-50 points. He shouldn't be a 2C mainstay, so OTT certainly downgrades here. He can be dominant at times, but I think he's best suited for a third line role.

Not going to comment on the assets being exchanged here. My comment is about trading partners. I don't think the Rangers and Ottawa would make a trade as they are in direct competition with one another for playoff spots. I am not saying conference rivals don't make trades, I just don't see the Rangers and Sens lining up on something.
