Straight value isn’t bad, but probably not the right use of assets for Colorado. They’re already strong down the wing, but need help at center (better than Laughton). Plus Konecny’s deal expires at the same time as Rantanen, Georgiev, and Byram. They can’t afford to keep all those guys and address 2C.

What if it was Frost instead of Laughton?

The player Colorado is paying the most for in your proposal is Konecny, which is why I don’t think this makes sense for the Avs.

I could definitely see interest in Frost apart from Konecny. But he’s probably not going to get then Byram or Ritchie. That’s probably a Sean Behrens/Sam Malinski conversation, with Colorado adding a little more.

As much as I'd like to add Konecny, it just doesn't make sense for Colorado to give up their best futures for him.

While Byram has struggled for various reasons, the organization still views him as a cornerstone piece of the D going forward, and Ritchie is one of the better prospects in the league. It's just too much for a guy they won't be able to keep long term, and one who doesn't fill a positional need.

If Philly does retain and move Konecny, they'll surely get a lot in return. But I think the Avs are the wrong team.

Avs likely wouldn't be interested in Konecny and Laughton isn't good enough to be 2C. They also likely wouldn't trade Byram for anything other than a 2C mid-season (or TDL). Off season may be a different story. Ritchie is also a piece they're highly unlikely to move unless a 2C with term, team control, young enough, low cap hit etc was all involved (very few of those exist or are available.....unicorn territory). It's not to say TK and SL aren't good pieces, they are, just not what the Avs want or need. So in that sense it's a long, long way off. Value in a vacuum without team needs factored in it's probably pretty good.
