yeah it's a hard no. Johnson wouldn't get claimed off waivers even with retention and I don't know if Blackwell would either tbh

Doesn't do much for the Rangers. Johnson isn't much of an upgrade to Brodzinski at this point in his career.

Hawks likely won't trade Johnson with retention for less than a 3rd. If the Hawks can't get better than a 4th and a 5th for their own players, they'll just keep their players and use their last two retention slots as a 3rd party retention partner. Same returns pick wise without disrupting anyone's life.
