Description
Savard at $875k AAV for the playoffs and NEXT SEASON is definitely worth a 1st.

Many are thinking from Pagnotta's tweet that EDM packaging a roster player with their 1st means Ceci. But with how with low the AAV for Savard would be coming in, that roster player could be anyone just to free up the roster space. I put Desharnais here, but you could swap with Brown, Janmark, etc.

Oilers need Desharnais nearly as much as Savard, switch it.

Tanev went for a 2nd + b prospect. How is Savard gonna fetch a 1st?

I don’t think he does unless a contender makes a desperation play close to the TDL… but I also don’t think Hughes deals him unless a first or equivalent value is offered. So if I had to place a wager I’d bet that Savard finishes the year as a Hab.

To be honest, I don't think he's worth a 1st either. I do think having Savard at $875k AAV next season does add really good value however, and because of that he should be close in value to Tanev as a rental. So a 2nd + something decent.

But with LeBrun's recent article about Savard, it seems Kent Hughes has no interest in moving Savard at market value and would just keep him (at least that's the message he's giving to the public). And bumping a 2nd+ to a late 1st while taking a roster player back really isn't that far of a reach. For EDM's case, I think it will depend on what they can get in the forward trade market. If they can't close a deal on a Guentzel or Buchnevich, focusing on improving their D is their next option, and Savard does fit what they would be looking for, especially at $875k. but for sure the price to pay is up for debate.
