this is horrible for the penguins.
They don't need Ruhwedel back.
Chychrun is a horrible fit, he bleeds goals. He's the last thing the Penguins need on their blue line.
This defense is actually worse than the one they fielded this year as there is one less guy to actually PK or be trusted in his own zone.
You trade for yet another 33-34 year old player... why? No thanks.

The only move here that makes any sense is moving out Smith. Which I'm not sure they can do at the start of the year, and it's not worth retaining on him or attaching anything to move him.
It's also pretty imaginary they will play those two young players.
The season is basically over and they are still playing Jeff Carter over Poulin. For what reason only God knows why. But that's how bad the decision making is around the penguins right now.
It's a pure example of why the Coaching staff needs to go and probably the front office with it.

I think we need an upgrade in defense top 4 in particular finding a partner for letang. maybe chychrun is not the right fit but you can't say the defense is worse when the other players were Ludvig or poj.
not sure Ruhwedel is relevant it can be him Ludvig poj any good depth dman.

i traded for a very good 4th line center. it would be obviously better to have a great young 3C that costs 3m and play eller 4C but I don't see that happening.

I agree that sully has been stubborn on letting younger guys play... hopefully he talks with dubas and gives these kids they got from Carolina a decent chance.

The caps easily decline this offer ESPECIALLY from the penguins.

Jake Guentzel isn't signing that cheaply, I doubt he takes anything less than 7 x $9,000,000.

And zero chance that offer gets you Jakob Chychrun, Detroit would easily beat that offer. Since they've tons of interest in him.
