Description
Oilers need to get rid of Campbell to sign FAs this offseason and the Sharks will have a need to take on salary in order to reach the cap floor. I see this as a no-brainer for both teams. Sharks could command a 1st rd pick to take this contract or at the very least a 2-3 rd pick. The Sharks would then trade Blackwood to either LA or really any other team in need of a goalie (OTT, CBJ, etc.), with the cap projected to go up this offseason there could be many more teams in need of a 1B goalie as well.

Assuming the Sharks get the 1st overall and sign the prodigal son in Celebrini, this forces the Sharks to assign Bystedt to the minor to prevent stagnation on the 3rd/4th line. If the Sharks do not receive the 1st overall (most probable because Bettman hates the Sharks ofc), then the Sharks could see the following forward line pairings

Eklund - Granlund - Smith
Bordeleau - Bystedt - Zetterlund
Guschin - Sturm - Zetterlund
Kostin - Carpenter - Aube-Kubel

The Sharks could also be in the running for a Right-shot defenseman to round out the top 6, but I think it might come from within (maybe Havelid, idk I see him taking another year or two if he even can make the jump to the NHL).

Seems fair enough for the Campbell swap, EDM would just buy him out if it cost anymore. The buyout dead cap of 1.1, 2.3, and 2.6 over the next 3 years could be useful for EDM as they stay a contender. It'd be nice to have 4 1sts next drafts assuming Pitt defers.

I could see SJ signing another C/RW to a inflated cap deal for a year or two, as Musty likely wouldn't be ready to make the jump next year.

If Thompson isn't ready I'd put MEV on the right side paired with Thrun.

You gotta be careful with throwing in all the young guys at once. It's be awful for their development. Smith I think should go back to BC unless he really bulks up. Bystedt has never played on North American Ice and is having a down year. Unless he's phenomenal in training camp there's no way he's not in the AHL, even if they miss out on Celebrini

I'd prefer to sign a really solid vet winger to a 1-2 year deal for the top 6 to help the young guys develop. There's always a couple guys who price themselves out and are left with out a competitive team in the first couple days of free agency.

Smith isn’t that small, with all he’s achieved, I think he could be in the show next year

He's not short but he needs bulk. That's what SJ management has said and its evident watching him play. He definitely could but I don't necessarily think it would be the best thing for him

Again, I'd like more Vets on the team to help him and Gush, Musty, etc develop. I've heard Couture is progressing well, so hopefully having a full summer + the end of the season off will help him fully recover, as EK65 did from his groin injury

oh 10000% I do not want to play a team full of 20 year olds, I would want a healthy mix, I was just arguing that I think Smith could play, especially if we have him line mates with a couple big wingers. If Couture does not play, I think Smith would have to, unless we can bring like Chmelevski in to have another center, or sign one in UFA I guess
