Too much to move for a 1yr deal on a guy when the Devils window isn't closing, this was a year of bad goaltending and injuries. Marner doesn't fix that.

I think the value for marner is pretty fair for the devils but I don't think it makes any sense for them. They wouldn't be able to afford marner's next contract so to give up their very valuable first and 4 years of marino for a year of marner doesn't really help us. We would still need to address other needs and have bigger holes to fill in the future.
