Description
Since pathetic Tampa trolls continue to derail my other threads with their worthless drivel, here's another approach. Tampa's main priority remains Stamkos and Duclair, but should Duclair choose to leave via ufa, Tampa could decide to sacrifice on offense(ill advised but possible) and use that space on an RD upgrade.

Oh man, I like DeMelo but I'm not sure he's the guy that you want to sign until he's 37 ... Chaffee's okay and I love him on our squad, but I'm not sure if a top six spot is the best role for him. If we're missing out on Duclair I'd like to add Sprong. We're short of additional right shots and I'd say he's still underutilized in Detroit. Might not be a bad idea.

Also incoming comments about "Perbix derangement syndrome" because you traded him for a fourth

Yeah, I figured it would be risky, but I thought in order to get DeMelo at that aav they would need to stretch the term. I agree that Chaffee may not be ready for a full time top 6 role yet, but he has shown some flashes, and if this scenario was to occur, he might ne best suited to move up. I like Sprong as well, and have added him in another agm with Duclair also leaving(RD is weaker there, but Tampa could still upgrade on Perbix with someone in the 2-2.5 range after paying Sprong 3.5-4). I know all about that poster and their alts. Most have been ignored but I occasionally make the mistake of interacting with posters like that.

Yeah totally get that. Personally I see DeMelo extending in Winnipeg, they've assembled a solid group there and they absolutely have the cap space to keep him over there.
Got absolutely no issue with Chaffee on a line with an established playmaker and solid center, but both partners should also be able to drive the play and be capable of abundant scoring. Love Chaffee, he's worked so hard to get here, but I don't think he will be the go-to shooter on a top six line and that's nothing against him. I genuinely wouldn't be opposed to developing Max Groshev or Niko Huuhtanen in the top six next season, both have had great glimpses as well and should be considered as an extra forward out of camp or even in a middle six role.

Maybe Groshev, but Huuhtanen is nowhere near ready for the NHL imo. He has the tools, but his skating and stamina need work. He also needs to adjust to NA ice. If he signs, I'd send him to Syracuse and working with Underhill next year, and then if he does well, perhaps make tbe jump to Tampa in '25-'26.
