Description

I had an interesting idea of an alternative to an Elvis buyout where all parties can win. The Flyers obviously collapsed when they lost (REDACTED) and their current goalies are not up to the task. While there are plenty of free agent options out there the Flyer's cap is somewhat limited. So lets do a hockey trade!

Blue Jackets will take cap relief by taking hometown hero Cam Atkinson back for his final year in the league. While we are not taking him back for a performance roll but just another veteran voice in a very young locker room while making sure he ends his career as a Blue Jacket. While this makes our abundance of wingers issue even harsher this is only a 1 year deal and I suspect the GM will slowly start to "phase" players out like Boqvist, Provorov and Kuraly for younger talent that will be coming up soon in Cleveland like Jiricek and Mateychuck soon.

Flyers get an Elvis who by far played his best under Torts. A big personality might need an even bigger personality to keep him in line. Elvis shown he can play under Torts and was actually successful during this period. This is a basically a 2.7x3 contract with a quicker cap dump.

you can keep the merzlikins contract, flyers have little interest in adding another goalie (ersson, fedotov, kolosox, petersen all under contract for next year), don't need a 2.7 million dollar 4th string

if you want atkinson tho, just ask nicely he will cost literally nothing
