What's everyone's obsession with the habs trading for a top 10 pick to draft a forward in a defense heavy class that's overall weaker than the average draft when they already have a top 5 pick and likely get one of the few forwards actually worth being top 10

That's not even close, especially since the chances are they'd get Florida's 2025 1st. Definitely have to lose Arizonas 2nd going back too. It would probably cost Hutson or Reinbacher, since that's what they'd be giving up, the chance to get a top pairing defenseman with their pick.

Doesn’t really do much for Arizona, they have an abundance of picks and quantity of prospects, they are shooting for gold, need of franchise changers via draft/free agency or any trades.

Absolutely right, and not only about the point that I've emphasized. Arizona isn't giving up the seventh overall pick without getting a 2024 first (or the equivalent, like Hutson) back. Consider just the top prospects at their positions, all of who are rated in the top 10: Celebrini, Catton and Lindstrom (Cs), Buium and Dickinson (LDs), and Levshunov and Parekh (RDs), plus wild cards Demidov, Connelly and Yakemchuk. Assuming that one of the forwards goes in the first three with Celebrini and Levshunov, any of the remaining seven choices are a better value than the two complementary defensemen and the Florida 2025 first. And I haven't included Eiserman, Helenius or Silayev in this calculus.
