Before playing in the NHL Necas was playing as a center, but hasn't been utilized in that role so far. Necas has already reached 1st line production as a winger, so I wouldn't be surprised if he could do the same as a center.

Not sure if this is fair value, but this would be the base of the trade.

Canes try to maximize their cup chances for next year. Assuming Necas would get around 6-7 million, Canes save 4-3 million which they can use elsewhere on their roster.

If TK had term, yes, there's a deal here somewhere. But he's a rental. He'd need to come with a reasonable extension. Either that, or start somewhere else. Also, if Rod hates him as a center, Torts may kill him

I don't know what your idea of a reasonable extension is in this case, but if you can't get that, then where else would you start? Also even if Torts would end up hating Necas at center then they could just move him back to the wing. They would still have a guy with similar production to Konecny and who is a bit younger.
