What can be the return for JT ?

The Leafs can take the option to trade him away to free up more cap space for them. Even that he can have somes value because of his good offensive stats, I'm sure that he can be in the '' cap dump '' situation because of his massive contract. Also, Toronto can't really decide to buyout JT because they will gonna have a 10M cap penalty for 24-25.

The Leafs will likely gonna need to receive maybe a contract that the Habs will gonna want to get rid. My idea about it is that they can use Dvorack to play with Marner (and reborn their chemistry in the OHL) or having the option to buyout him.

I'm open for somes 2nd round and 3rd round picks, but no 1st round pick.

CGY 1st round pick i'm open with that, but that's need to include Dvorack. No negociation with that.

leafs will probably just keep him for the last year of his contract and hope he takes a pay-cut on his next deal to play 3C he'll be 35 at that point. Can't see them dumping their captain to their biggest rival

JT is not just a cap dump. He is a 30 goal scorer and 65+ points and adds veteran leadership to the team. His actual salary after July 1st is only $900K. So many teams that are not going to hit the cap like Chicago, Anaheim, Buffalo, Utah etc would are not worried about the cap space would trade for him easily. The question is will he wave to go to any of them.
