Description
Here's an idea for a midseason or deadline Kane trade.

Kane bolsters Calgary's lineup and gives them some serious secondary scoring for a playoff run. Andersson fills a major hole at RHD in Buffalo's prospect pool, and is in a bit of a logjam in Calgary right now.

I'm not set in stone on the 4th round pick, but I think it evens out the value here. I see this as a pure rental situation for the Flames, but I made the pick conditional in case they do happen to re-sign Kane.

This obviously makes the Sabres' offense considerably weaker this year, but this season is shot anyway and I'd bet that Kane is committed to testing free agency. Hopefully one of Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching, or Smith can play their way into the NHL lineup by the end of the year so they can fill the hole Kane leaves.

Thoughts?

Quite good. I think Flames would take this, Kane would really upgrade their offense. Andersson is not too important for CGY, since they already have young d-prospects, such as Välimäki and Kylington. So in my opinion, CGY has no reason to refuse this trade. Except I'm not sure can they afford to do this.

I think Andersson makes sense for BUF and for CGY, but I think Kane could get a bigger package than this at the TDL. If he keeps pace he'll be the premier scoring winger option. Maybe Andersson + 1st rounder or a nice package of picks.

This. The calgary package seems light compared to what i expect is offered. A decent rhd prospect and a first would seem ideal.

I forgot to mention cap hit, but Buffalo could retain salary on this to make it work. Cap hit is prorated on trades so the later we go in the year, the less financial burden Calgary would have to take on for Kane. I don't think they'd have a problem with financials.

Thanks for the input. I didn't want to overshoot on value and get run out of town here so I tried to start light. squinty smile

Flames don't have a first or a second this year but the 2019 first could work.

Quick question for Calgary fans, how do you compare Andersson and Fox, nd which do you think has more value right now? Might as well throw Valimaki in that comparison as well.
