He is struggling and this trade gives him an opportunity to ride off the coat tails of being of the same line as a different first overall pick (two, actually). And Antipin will slide into the NJD D-core nicely, and he's expendable due to the large number of L-shot D-men in the system.

K9, Stammer, Kuch. That line would be insane. I see this trade that looks lopsided being possible by comparing it to the Shattenkirk trade from last season. Two picks, a prospect, and a sorta prospect/NHL depth player for a guy on an expiring contract.
