BUF
  1. 2018 3rd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Bogosian, Zach
Additional Details:
Dallas acquires a solid 4th d-man for their squad needed to boost their d-core. Buffalo dumps off needed cap space and opens up room for McCabe to have a permanent spot this season.
3.
BUF
  1. Hrivík, Marek
  2. Välimäki, Juuso
  3. 2018 4th round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Valimaki won't be able to break into a strong Calgary D-Core until he is probably 21, Calgarys window may be closing soon enough with some of their bigger pieces besides Johhny and Sean turning into veterans. It may be wise for Calgary to take the risk now than when Valimaki when he hits 21 and might not be NHL ready. They acquire a needed scoring winger.
CGY
  1. Kane, Evander
Additional Details:
Buffalo completes the Kane speculations in a short and sweet manner. They pick up Valimaki who could easily turn out to be an elite d-man, currently is more than a point per game as a d-man in the WHL. Just so the deal isn't lopsided for Calgary, Buffalo also acquires Hrivik who could become a Top 9-er in the future if develped correctly. 4th is added in to sweeten the deal.
4.
BUF
  1. Miletic, Sam
  2. 2018 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Pittsburgh acquires a needed backup goalie in Chad Johnson. They let Jarry and De Smith develop in the AHL.
PIT
  1. Johnson, Chad
Additional Details:
Buffalo acquires prospect Sam Miletic who currently has 41 points in 29 games in the OHL as a 20 year old, C+ prospect, plus a 5th round as a sweetener.

Wow, a sens fan doing us a bunch of solids. Is this guilt over the lehner trade? I mean i liked murray, and the rumor was it took pick 21 and a cap dump in legs gone to beat out the oilers offer, but i think its fair to say that might be murrays most hated deal. Not counting giving matt moulson 5 million dollars a year and a free pass to the press box media buffet in perpetuity. Either way, ill take all of these and run.

Dallas and Calgary don't have the cap space to bring in those players. The values aren't bad, but I don't see how either of those teams make the cap room.

I think the sabres would be happy to retain on kane for the right offer. Bogosian, not so much, not retaining over a number of seasons.

As much as I would love to add Kane here in CGY, the Sabres would have to take back either one of our considered "bad contracts" to make it happen. Perhaps by taking back either Stajan or Brouwer the deal could be done.
The other sticking point is that Kane becomes a UFA and with no guarantee he re-signs with CGY, Valimaki is a huge piece to be giving up.
You mention he may not crack our D core until he hits 21yrs old, there was lots of chatter around here all through training camp that Valimaki could have stepped into the lineup this year, but the smart thing was to send him back to the WHL and not rush him. He's that good.
