Description
Tooth made this trade on Tampa’s end. Bottom line is Rangers are missing a TRUE 2/3C. Zibanejad has been very good until the injury occurred. Obviously he’s had several concussions, so isn’t playing great since the return. Tyler Johnson has the ability as he’s gotten 70 points before and is on a friendly $5M per deal for the next 6 years. Hayes, Miller, Skjei, Vesey will get their raises and it saves some room to do that as well as filling the C void. Moving Zucc is never easy, especially for Rangers fans but Sergachev is young and already showing he has a bright future. He won’t see a huge raise until Shat and Smith are on their final season before FA. $ can finally get shifted the right way towards forwards which can be VERY big for the future.

I can say with 100% certainty that both McDonagh AND Zuccarello doesn't get you Sergachev alone. and I'm not trying to take away anything from McD and Zucc, both are great, but with tampa being a cap team, Sergachev at an entry level cap hit is probably the most untouchable asset around. he's only 19 years old, has 23pts in 37 games and he isn't playing with Hedman at all, TB are literally rolling out Hedman and Sergachev on seperate lines like a 1-2 punch. same on the powerplay.

to put things in a better perspective for NYR fans, how you guys feel about Skjei...Sergachev is better.

johnson would not be included, callahan maybe because his contract is terrible. Note that tooth is a clear ranger fan by all his ranger teams that he's posted.

I would love this trade as a rangers fan and I would say take it and RUN.

agree with blazing why tampa wouldn't do it since tampa is a cap team, if they want to go all in though this move would be considered because in terms of value it is fair-- just in terms of longevity it isnt since mcd will get 7 mill and zuc will get probably 5-6

Why would Tampa ever consider this? Tyler Johnson just signed a 7 year deal Sergachev is under team control for the foreseeable future both McDonagh and Zuccarello only have one year left No way would Yzerman deal Sergachev without at least Brady Skjei coming the other way this is terrible for Tampa.

Johnson is 27 and has an injury history. That "friendly" 5m contract could be buyout material in 2 years. Plus the Rangers have 2 guys in the pipeline who look like they'll be ready to slot in at C next season, so the center hole you're describing is a short-term one at best.

As good as Sergachev is, you're asking the Rangers to give up their 1D and top scorer. How about this deal instead:

McD OR Zucc *50% retained on whichever is picked
2nd round pick
Graves/DeAngelo or one of the other B-tier prospects
Additional Conditional if Zuccarello/McDonagh don't resign

For
Sergachev
Cap Dump (potential addition if required)
