Description
Taking a look at Montreal buffing up St Louis' roster and taking step 1 towards a rebuild.
I can already predict people will balk at St Louis losing more than one quality prospect, but one of those is in place of a 2018 first that St Louis does not have, so their 2017 first round pick (Thomas) becomes part of the trade instead.

Thomas, Dunn for Pacioretty.
Kyrou, Bennet, for Byron, Benn.
Both trades are in St Louis' favor, so the conditional pick makes up for the difference of the entire transaction.
Trades
STL
  1. Benn, Jordie
  2. Byron, Paul
  3. Pacioretty, Max
Additional Details:
Serious reinforcements for St Louis that can be difference makers this year and will all still be around next year to defend the title.
You'll notice this puts them over the cap, but that doesn't take into account the technical cap adjustments and Schwartz is currently on LTIR.
MTL
  1. Bennett, Beau
  2. Dunn, Vince
  3. Kyrou, Jordan
  4. Thomas, Robert
  5. 2019 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Quality prospects for Montreal to kick start the rebuild.
2nd round pick becomes a 1st (in 2019) if St Louis makes the finals.

ya you gotta fix that cap situation.

Retain on Patches salary, replace Dunn with Gunnarsson + low level draft pick.

I still highly doubt STL give up both Thomas AND Kyrou in the same deal, I can see them say "take only 1, but not both"

I explained the cap difference. They're sitting with over 6M right now. The rest depends on Schwartz and how long he is out. They may have to make a separate move pending his status, but they can make this trade right now and will be compliant.

I also explained Thomas. Unless StL picks up a mid round 1st in 2018 they can flip, he'd have to be included.

The cap is fixable.

So what is Patches worth....top two prospects? Thomas and Kryrou? I think so Benn (if needed) and Byron for Dunn. I think St Louis likes for 1.5 years of immediate help. And for Montreal, Dunn can play now and two prospects not far away hopefully. Forget Bennett and the pick, Good thoughts on the trade.

I put Patches at a quality prospect, a 1st, and a young Nhler. St Louis can't meet that price due to the lack of a 1st, so I tweaked it a little. If not, we offer those 3 players for a similar package to their competition. wink
