Montreal owns a lottery pick this year, it is worth a lot in my eyes.

Contract wise the 8.5 from Leon is a problem long term for edmonton.

Its not yet confirmed if the Habs have a lottery pick - so that trade only makes sense if its confirmed and at that point, it may be that we're giving up too much
but I like it nonetheless

I think for a good retool we need to land high picks and prospects. guys like Alzner, Pacioretty, Plekanecs, Petry, and Byron can fetch a lot at the trade deadline. as for lottery, we really are playing the number. you could finish 13th last, and still pick top 3. hopefully we do win the lottery. and i think we shouldn't add mcniven to that trade, rather put in Lindgren.

Since our 1st pick was traded to the oilers, we don't have any interest in the lottery. And Lindgren will come as backup to Carey next year so don't trade him

whats the point of trading for draisaitl. lets u we pick 4th or 5th overall. we could draft a center like tkachuk, while trading pacioretty for another young center

I agree here. What is MTL doing? Are we seriously trying to compete for a cup? This team isn't good enough and we have too many high priced contracts. I still think adding Draisaitl is a good move because he's young but frankly I'd just keep the picks, trade the big guns and rebuild correctly. The slow but sure way.
