Description
Trades' frameworks were all proposed by other users. Pittsburgh is capped out, desperate to jettison Cole for something, and can't get Bozak without clearing space and sending someone. The reunion with Kessel is a solid idea.
Leivo, Pickard and Martin have been suggested to NYI. Isles have Calgary's 1st and 2nd in 2018. Edmonton is shopping Letestu, should value futures more than Leafs do.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Cole, Ian
  2. 2018 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Selling low on Cole, has fallen out of favour, not part of Pens plans, and shoots left.
PIT
  1. Bozak, Tyler ($2,100,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Selling low on Bozak, having a mediocre season. Also bending over backwards to give Pens a 3C and accommodate cap troubles
2.
TOR
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (CGY)
  2. 2018 5th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
From the Isles stacked draft. Extra 1st and 2nd from Calgary.
NYI
  1. Leivo, Josh ($250,000 retained)
  2. Martin, Matt
  3. Pickard, Calvin ($300,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Leafs retain $250k of Leivo's $925k next year. Leafs have huge cap space in 2018/19.
3.
TOR
  1. Ryan, Derek
Additional Details:
Re-sign for $2.3M x 3 years.
CAR
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (CGY)
  2. 2018 5th round pick (NYI)
4.
TOR
  1. Winnik, Daniel
  2. 2018 6th round pick (MIN)
  3. 2020 7th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Gauthier is in AHL, so this saves Wild a bit of space for capped out deadline deals if needed.
MIN
  1. Gauthier, Frédérik
  2. Soshnikov, Nikita ($300,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Wild get cheap and controllable Sosh (and the Goat who could become a depth C). For the low price of a 6th, 7th and expiring Winnik. Winnik is a fan favourite in T.O. Experienced wing depth who can be scratched until injuries strike.
5.
TOR
  1. Letestu, Mark
Additional Details:
Letestu is a 33 year old departing UFA that Edmonton should cash in.
In Toronto he can compete for the foreseeable future.
Re-sign him for $2.1M x 3. Term will be important to the aging vet.
EDM
  1. Rosén, Calle
  2. 2018 5th round pick (TOR)
  3. 2018 6th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Helps Edmonton's rebuild around McDavid's deal, they go from a slightly light draft to a slightly deep one

Pens would absolutely do that deal. Just an FYI, teams can’t retain on more than 3 players in a single season. So you can only retain on Kessel, Bozak, and one of the other 3. Maybe retain 50% on the highest contract in that isles trade?

I know you won't WANT to, but Martin isn't going back to NYI without significant salary retention. Use that money on him instead of Leivo/Pickard. $1M retained should be the starting point for NYI

Are you sure Josh? The Isles will be getting Pickard and Leivo dumped in their lap. But mostly, they are ready to overpay guys anytime it seems. That is not being funny.
Clutterbuck is a winger getting 13 minutes a night, has 17 points. He's 30, but is owed 3.5M for four more years! Ladd is 32, has 21 points, and 5.5M owing for five more years! Boychuk is 34, brings no offense anymore, and 6M for four more years. Greiss 3.33M for 2 more years.
I'm sorry about all of that, but you made me list it out to you. Acting like the Isles were savvy cap managers!

I did not know about that, what a rule! Yeah retain more on Pickard in that case. Minnesota deal doesn't change much with a few pro-rated, after deadline dollars. They still gain cheap and controllable in future years.

Idk about that, I mean the isles bottom 6 is atrocious. Martin is probably an upgrade on their bottom 6. Plus they are getting a solid young winger in Leivo and Captain Pickard which means they can get rid of both Halak and Greiss and get a legit starter while not spending much on a backup.
