Description
How to make the Isles not bad

1. Fire Snow, Hire Brisebois or even Fenton

2. Fire Brent Thompson (He's not good at growing prospects)

3. Resign JT

4. Buyout Clutterbuck (Too bad of a contract and the easiest one to pay throughout his buyout)

5. Draft Smith/Dobson at 9 and Veleno/Kotkaniemi/Lundestrom at 12

6. Let Nelson get offer-sheeted (The picks we'd get would be worth way more than Nelson is to us)

7. Let Hickey, De Haan (Unless he wants less than $3m), Seidenberg, Prince and Halak walk

8. Resign Pulock long term, give Davidson a bridge deal

9. Sign Hutton, Bernier or Halak to a 1 year deal (Until Soderstrom is ready)

10. Sign a cheap 4th line center (Vermette, Ryan, Stajan or Wagner)

11. Sign Franson or Sustr

12. Bury Pelech in the AHL unless you can trade him

13. Bring up Ho-Sang and Bellows full time

I think you could get something for Pelech. He's probably more useful than Mayfield or Franson in this case. But overall, nice work.

Yeah, he's a decent d-man. You could get a pick for him.

This is a really good team except on defense and in goal.

Very nice strategy above. It would definitely improve the team. Maybe trade both 1st round picks to trade up to the #4, #5 or #6 range. Given the deep draft, one of the teams in that range may want to move down.
I still chuckle to myself when I think back on the draft in which Snow offered all 7 NYI picks to CBJ for Ryan Murray.
    That’s just crazy.

I think maybe a 4th for a defensively hurting team, but his contract is so weird and he's yet to put anything together. As far as him being more useful than Mayfield or Franson I don't necessarily agree. I would much rather play Aho/Toews over him come next year. And we need a righty where Mayfield is a little bit more defensively sound than Pelech and where Franson is even better than those two. I don't see the need for Pelech personally.
